C-Cube - Data-Cube3

The CCUBE is a collaborative development between the seismology group @ University of Potsdam (mainboard and software), GEMPA GmbH (cube-plugin for seedLINK server), Omnirecs (casing, production and distribution) and the GFZ Potsdam (SIM-card board, routing of mainboard). The soft- and hardware system design is based on the experiences made at the University of Potsdam with the WARAN system ( aiming towards providing easy wireless access to near realtime seismological data streams in the field for direct analysis.

One major important design aspect of the hardware is the low power consumption of the complete acquisition and transmission system. Further, the use of meshed network technologies for easy routing within sensor networks (or acquisition nodes) proves to be an favourable advantage in environments where obstacles are common (e.g. urban areas or region with strong topographic barriers on small scale). Finally the CCUBE software is open and can therefore be modified and adapted to the client’s own needs and operation scenarios (e.g. other digitizer equipment may be used given the availability of a seedlink plugin). For convenience a standard system as well as firmware updates can be installed from USB and the uboot system.

Inside the the C-Cube running a debian gnu/linux system on a ACME Aria Board ACME Aria Board. Possible data transport media are: WLAN, UMTS/LTE, ethernet.
